Marcos to have separate meeting with Biden in Washington next week

Aside from the scheduled three-way summit with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, President Marcos will have a separate meeting with US President Joseph Biden during his trip to Washington, DC, from April 11 to 12.

Malacañang press briefer Daphne Oseña-Paez said this ahead of the historic Philippines-Japan-US Leaders' Meeting next week.
According to Paez, Marcos and Biden are set to discuss various areas of cooperation during their separate meeting.
"Apart from the trilateral meeting, President Biden will also host President Marcos in the White House for a meeting concerning various areas of cooperation such as economic security, clean energy, [and] people-to-people ties among others," she said.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the two leaders will discuss more bilateral issues including of course one of the main objectives of the President would be on economic cooperation and economic security.
It added that there will be discussions on security cooperation and a separate meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
"We expect these conversations which were raised in previous meetings to continue," it said.
The DFA shared that Marcos will also have business meetings during the short US trip.
Paez said the upcoming summit aims to advance the trilateral partnership of the three countries and reaffirm the robust alliance between the Philippines and the United States and the partnership with Japan.
