Flash flood, landslide warning up in parts of Mindanao
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical ndandstronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, April 6, said flash floods or landslides may occur in parts of Mindanao in times of moderate to heavy rains.

In PAGASA’s latest public forecast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said high chance of rains will be expected in the southern portion of Mindanao within the next 24 hours due to the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA said Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos), Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be expected due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
The weather bureau also warned the public that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Villamil said hot and humid weather will persist in most parts of the country over the next three days.
Based on the PAGASA’s extended weather outlook from April 7 to 9, the actual air temperatures in some key areas are 24–35°C in Metro Manila, 25-32° in Legazpi City, 17–26°C in Baguio City, 25–33°C in Metro Cebu, 26–33°C in Iloilo City, 25–33°C in Tacloban City, 24–33°C in Metro Davao, 25–34°C in Zamboanga City, and 25–33°C in Cagayan de Oro City.
Heat index
Based on PAGASA’s forecast, 10 areas in the country will have “dangerous” heat indices on Sunday, April 7.
It said Catarman, Northern Samar will have a heat index of 44°C, followed by a heat index of 43°C in Aborlan, Palawan.
Meanwhile, a heat index of 42°C will be expected in Sangley Point, Cavite; Alabat, Quezon; Malunay, Quezon; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) Pili, Camarines Sur; and Dumangas, Iloilo.
