ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor John Dalipe has issued an executive order formalizing guidelines for class suspension and flexible work arrangements for government offices due to the severe heat in this city.

Dalipe released Executive Order 2024-25, an order providing the implementing rules and regulations for the suspension of classes on all levels of public and private schools in Zamboanga and flexible work schedule in all government offices and agencies.
It said that suspension of onsite and classes in public and private schools on all levels and the implementation of hybrid learning will be left to the discretion of school administrators in their area of responsibility.
Government employees included in the vulnerable groups may also work from home. They include pregnant women, Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens, and those with disabilities and co-morbidities.
Those who are not included in the group and will have to work onsite will be allowed to wear comfortable clothing provided that they do not violate clothing regulations as stated under Civil Service Commission Memorandum No. 19.
Field workers which include traffic enforcers will work on a three-hour shift while street sweepers will work on a night shift schedule.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod backed the order through a resolution passed this week asking the mayor to issue the appropriate EO for class suspension.
Dalipe ordered the cancellation of classes from April 4 to 5 due to a heat index that breached the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
