Tricycle driver shot dead in Laguna; killer gunned in pursuit operation

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A 41-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead in Barangay San Jose here on Thursday, April 4.

Frederick Tagle’s gunman, Benjo, was killed when he allegedly resisted arrest in a follow-up operation in Barangay Parian in this city several hours after the incident.

Police said Tagle was driving his tricycle with a passenger on board when the suspect appeared and shot him.

The victim died on the spot and the suspect fled towards Barangay 6 here. Tagle’s passenger was unharmed.

Police launched a follow-up operation and caught up with the suspect who, instead of surrendering, fired at arresting lawmen who retaliated and killed the suspect.

He was taken to a hospital in this city where he was declared dead.

Police recovered the suspect’s gun with bullets.
