Philippine Red Cross chief promises 'hands-on' assistance during water shortage
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon vowed that the organization's volunteers and staff will stay on the field and collaborate closely to assist the families impacted by the dry season.

In a statement on Friday, April 5, Gordon said the humanitarian organization had dispatched water tankers to assist families in Zamboanga City struggling with clean water because of the ongoing El Ñino phenomenon.
He said he had ordered the deployment of an additional 12,000-liter water tanker to augment the 5,000-liter tanker that had already been assisting the residents.
As of Friday, the PRC had distributed 87,000 liters of clean water, reaching over 5,979 families in areas like Seaside, Seafront, Tres Maria, Katilingban, Kalinaw, San Roque, San Jose Gusu, Guiwan, Canelar Moret, Campaner, and Sucabon.
The Upper Calarian, Tumbugan, and Tumaga are also scheduled to be assisted as PRC plans to serve more areas.
