Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan thanked President Marcos Jr. on Friday, April 5, for signing a law dividing Bagong Silang into six barangays.

“Bilang alkalde ng Caloocan, nagpapasalamat po ako kay Pangulong Ferdinand "BongBong" Marcos Jr. sa pagpirma nya upang tuluyang maisabatas ang paghahati-hati ng Barangay 176 Bagong Silang sa anim na barangay (As mayor of Caloocan, I would like to thank President Ferdinand "BongBong" Marcos Jr. for signing the law that will officially divide Barangay 176 Bagong Silang into six barangays),” he said.
The measure was proposed by District 1 Representative Oca Malapitan to give more attention and bring services closer to the residents of Barangay 176, the largest barangay in the country.
According to the city’s public information office, there will still be a plebiscite before the division is implemented.
During the process, the city government will find out if the residents of Barangay 176 will support the law.
In partnership with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the city government will begin the preparations for the plebiscite.
“We will respect the results of the plebiscite and continue to provide services to the people to the best of our abilities,” the city government said.
