Five people, including a female firefighter, were hurt in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Friday afternoon, April 5.


The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said that a 29-year-old female firefighter experienced nausea and vomiting while battling the fire, while a 20-year-old man sustained lacerations on his right arm.
It added that a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old both had anxiety attack, while a 30-year-old male had difficulty in breathing.
The BFP said that the fire started on the third floor of the house owned by Jane Talplacido atTomas Mapua Street.
The fire was raised to the first alarm at 3:22 p.m. and raised to the second alarm at 3:38 p.m.
Firefighters put the fire under control at around 5:30 p.m. and extinguished at 6:13 p.m.
The fire gutted around 13 houses, affecting over 35 families, or around 100 individuals.
The fire damaged at least P3.7 million worth of property, BFP said.
Arson investigators are still determining the origin of the fire.
