DOH recommends 'quarantine' measures to control spread of pertussis in Quezon City
In light of the rise in pertussis cases in Quezon City, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa recommended isolating sick children within households affected by the disease.

In a statement on Friday, April 5, DOH said Herbosa made the recommendation during a meeting with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on April 4.
The DOH said the meeting was convened to strategize effective responses to the escalating cases of pertussis outbreak in the city.
Belmonte acknowledged the presence of “unvaccinated pockets” among the city's children, as she underscored the urgency of vaccination efforts.
Assuring the public of the DOH’s commitment, Herbosa affirmed that comprehensive measures are underway to combat the outbreak.

The DOH highlighted the important role of immunization in preventing the spread of preventable diseases.
