The Bureau of Customs (BOC) and Hong Kong Customs conducted a joint validation visit (JVV) to advance mutual recognition arrangements and enhance trade facilitation efforts.
Last month, Director Yasser Ismail A. Abbas of the Imports and Assessment Service and District Collector Yasmin M. Obillos-Mapa of the Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, along with other BOC officials, engaged in discussions regarding the intricacies of trade facilitation measures within the Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator (HKAEO) Programme.
“Exploring operations at the air cargo terminal provided valuable insights into the practical application of customs procedures and promoted a thorough understanding of the program's operational framework,” the BOC said.
Furthermore, the collaborative efforts between the AEO teams of BOC Philippines and Hong Kong Customs culminated a joint venture between TE Connectivity HK Limited and Wilson Logistics Limited to further comprehend the security standards required for Programme accreditation.
As both customs administrations work toward the completion of a Mutual Recognition Arrangement, the successful outcome of this visit represents a promising path towards increased cooperation, efficiency, and security in international trade.
Under the leadership of Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, this initiative showcases the BOC's commitment to streamlining customs procedures, strengthening security measures, and promoting trade facilitation in accordance with best international practices.
