This, as the Lady Tamaraws hiked their record to 5-4 in the standings after recovering from a slow start.
The win also meant that defending champion De La Salle and National University, which were running second and third, claimed their respective seats in the Final Four alongside top seed University of Santo Tomas.
As it stands, FEU is ahead two games of Ateneo and could clinch the last seat should it win all its next scheduled games while the latter losses its upcoming matches — formally completing the semifinal pairings.
It will also mark the Lady Tamaraws’ return to the Final Four in five years since Season 81.
Four Lady Tamaraws finished in double figures with rookie Faida Bakanke and veteran Chenie Tagaod scoring 16 points each in the team effort, highlighted by their mighty offensive form.
Gerzel Petallo and Jean Asis, meanwhile, tallied 15 and 11 markers, respectively, to help FEU in the crucial victory.
The Blue Eagles, on the other hand, slid further to a 3-7 slate.
All that’s left for Ateneo’s hope for a Final Four return is to display perfect volleyball in the last stretch of the eliminations.
Four Ateneo players also reached the double digit mark with Lyann De Guzman and Sobe Buena pacing the squad with 29 points combined.
Zek Tunashime and AC Miner had 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
