Short-lived phreatic eruption occurs at Taal Volcano on April 30
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it recorded a phreatic eruption in Taal Volcano on Tuesday, April 30.

Phivolcs said the phreatic eruption, which occurred at 3:20 a.m., lasted for three minutes.
It also said five volcanic earthquakes, including four volcanic tremors with a duration of two to three minutes, were observed.
Meanwhile, as of April 29, the sulfur dioxide emission was 2,671 tons per day.
Phivolcs also said the plume emission was “moderate,” reaching a height of 1,200 meters before it drifted west.
Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1, which means it is still at low-level unrest.
Phivolcs warned the public of steam-driven or phreatic or gas-driven explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall, and lethal accumulations or expulsions of volcanic gas.
