Called “Dambana ng Paghilom,” the memorial site will serve as the final resting place of victims of extra-judicial killings.

AJ Kalinga Foundation Inc. founder and president Fr. Flavie Villanueva SVD said the “Dambana ng Paghilom,” the first EJK memorial site in the country, “serves to provide EJK victims with dignity and importance by providing them with their own final resting place.”

“The shrine will also serve as a reminder to everyone on the importance and sacredness of life which was taken for granted during the previous administration,” said Fr. Villanueva over Radio Veritas.

“The memorial site is a resting place that highlights the dignity of a person, that every human being must be valued and respected dead or alive,” he added.

The formal inauguration of the “Dambana ng Paghilom” will be on May 1 at the La Loma Catholic Cemetery in Caloocan City. Those who are interested to attend are requested to wear white in solidarity and to show support to the families of EJK victims.

Fr. Villanueva said the memorial site can accommodate 400 urns. The 100 available spaces can fit from three to four urns each.
