ITCZ may still bring rain showers to southern Mindanao

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 30 said southern Mindanao may still have scattered rain showers due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ)—a weather system where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge.

PAGASA said Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be felt due to the easterlies, or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, and localized thunderstorms.

It also warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, based on PAGASA’s extended weather outlook from May 1 to May 3, the actual air temperatures in some key areas will be 26–37°C in Metro Manila, 26-39°C in Tuguegarao City, 26-34°C in Legazpi City, 17–27°C in Baguio City, 27–33°C in Metro Cebu, 27–34°C in Iloilo City, 26–33°C in Tacloban City, 26–34°C in Metro Davao, 25–33°C in Zamboanga City, and 25–33°C in Cagayan de Oro City.
