Hontiveros: More victim survivors eager to testify vs Apollo Quiboloy

More victim-survivors are eager to testify against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros said on Tuesday, April 30.

Hontiveros disclosed this saying that the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, which she chairs is set to conduct its next hearing into the alleged rape and other abuses committed by the religious leader.

“Our Senate committee, will continue to prepare for our next hearing. May mga victim-survivors pa na gustong magsalita at obligasyon ng aming kumite na bigyan sila ng espasyo sa ating Senado (There are more victim-survivors who want to testify and it is the committee’s obligation to ensure that the Senate will accommodate their request),” Hontiveros said.

Hontiveros also said she has filed a comment or opposition regarding Quiboloy’s petition before the Supreme Court.

The SC had earlier ordered the Senate to justify the arrest warrant it issued against Quiboloy who has continued to snub the Senate’s investigation.

Hontiveros expressed her gratitude to her legal team and to former Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio and Prof. John Molo for extending their expertise and time for the resolution of the case.

“It is now in the SC’s hands for deliberation. Tiwala ako na mananaig ang patas at makatarungnang paghatol ng aking Korte Suprema (I am confident that the fair and just judgment of our Supreme Court will prevail),” she said.
