Farmer caught in drug bust; P7.2-M marijuana seized

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet â€“ A farmer listed as a high-value drug personality was arrested in a buy-bust operation by the Benguet Police Provincial Office on April 29.

The 33-year-old male suspect was arrested by joint operatives of the Benguet PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Kibungan Municipal Police Station in Barangay Madaymen, Kibungan, Benguet.

The suspect was caught after he sold one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing 1.08 grams to a police poseur-buyer. Recovered from him was another plastic sachet of shabu weighing 5.08 grams.

A total of 6.16 grams of shabu valued at P41,888 was seized from the suspect.

He and the pieces of evidence were brought to the PDEU for proper documentation and disposition The suspect faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, police found and burned 60 kilos of dried marijuana stalks with fruiting tops worth P7.2 million in an eradication operation in Sitio Batadang, Tacadang, Kibungan.
