34 areas experience 'dangerous' heat indices on April 30


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that 34 areas experienced a "dangerous" heat index on Tuesday, April 30.

PAGASA recorded a heat index of 48°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and 47°C in Aparri, Cagayan; Central Bicol State University (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Tacloban City, Leyte.

In Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Virac, Catanduanes; and Masbate City, Masbate, a heat index of 46°C was recorded.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; and Iloilo City, Iloilo had a heat index of 45°C.

A heat index of 44°C was also recorded in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Casiguran, Aurora; Daet, Camarines Norte; Roxas City, Capiz; Catarman, Northern Samar; and Dumangas, Iloilo.

In Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Iba, Zambales; Sangley Point, Cavite; Alabat, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Aborlan, Palawan; and La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental, a heat index of 43°C was recorded.

A heat index of 42°C was also recorded in Science Garden, Quezon City; Bacnotan, La Union; Calayan, Cagayan; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Baler, Aurora; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Mambusao, Capiz; Catbalogan, Samar; Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte; and Siquijor, Siquijor.
