Woman robbed, raped in front of minor BF

BACOLOD CITY – A young woman was allegedly molested in front of her boyfriend after they were robbed in a sugarcane field in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Black Saturday.

Police Lt. Col. Nazer Canja, San Carlos police chief, said the woman and her minor boyfriend left for a sugarcane field to relieve themselves during a drinking session with a friend.

However, the couple did not notice that an unidentified person followed them.

Canja said the perpetrator declared a holdup and threatened them at gunpoint.

The suspect took their wallets, cellular phones, and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and sexually abused the woman.

Canja said that it took them a few hours to leave the area and report the incident to the authorities.

He said they already have a person of interest after the female victim was able to identify the suspect through their rogue’s gallery. Canja added that they are awaiting the result of her medical examination.

Based on the background of the suspect, Canja said that he had a robbery case and is considered notorious due to several threat complaints against him.

Charges for robbery and violation of Republic Act 8353 or The Anti-Rape Law of 1997 will be filed against the suspect, Canja said.
