President Marcos assured Filipinos in Taiwan that the Philippine government was ready to provide them with the support they may need following the 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck the self-ruled island.

Marcos said this after the tremor rocked Taiwan on Wednesday morning, April 3.
In an X post, the President assured Filipinos in Taiwan that the government is doing its best to ensure their safety and to assist them.
"Rest assured, our Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is diligently ensuring the safety of the 159,480 Filipinos currently residing in Taiwan," he wrote.
"We stand ready to assist and support our fellow Filipinos in Taiwan in any way possible during this difficult period," he added.

"Our hearts are with the people of Taiwan as they endure the aftermath of today's powerful earthquake," he said.
The quake in Taiwan prompted the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) to issue a tsunami alert, noting that the tremor that occurred at a depth of 19 kilometers, could cause tsunami waves in Batanes Group of Islands, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Isabela.
The Phivolcs lifted the said warning before noon on Wednesday.
“Based on available data of our sea level monitoring stations facing the epicentral area, no significant sea level disturbances have been recorded since 7:58 a.m. up until this cancellation,” it said.
“With this, any effects due to the tsunami warning have largely passed and therefore DOST-Phivolcs (Department of Science and Technology-Phivolcs) has now canceled all tsunami warnings issued for this event,” it added.
