DOST to open new ‘mini’ science centrum in Quezon province
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said it is set to launch the Mini Science Centrum at the Cesar C. Tan Memorial National High School in Quezon province.

Through its CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) regional office, the second science centrum is scheduled to launch on April 5, following its first centrum in Polillo last September.
This initiative, the department said, is designed to extend "museum-style educational experiences" to students in remote regions, some of whom are members of Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, to encourage them to pursue professions in science and technology.
The said centrum was also part of the department's Enhanced Community Empowerment through Science and Technology for the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas.
"It also aims to empower economically challenged communities by providing science and technology interventions that address their needs in areas such as health, education, disaster risk reduction, climate change mitigation, and economic development," the agency said.
DOST added that the opening of the center coincides with the start of several other agency projects in Quezon, including the establishment of fish processing facility, buffalo milk production facility, virgin coconut oil (VCO) processing improvement project, upgraded fiberglass rescue boats, and an upgrade to Kingflute Philippines, Inc.'s production facility.
