TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Cagayan Valley Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council remains on alert following the magnitude-7.5 earthquake that rocked Taiwan on Wednesday morning.

Residents living near coastal areas in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) had been ordered to evacuate following a tsunami alert as a result of the earthquake.
The CVDRRMC issued Memorandum Order No. 39, Series of 2024, instructing all council members to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) in coastal areas to conduct the evacuation of residents.
"Isasagawa ang paglikas hanggang 11 a.m. ngayong Miyerkules bilang pag-iingat sa mga residente."
(Evacuation will be conducted until 11 a.m. to ensure the safety of residents)
The CVDRRMC recommended the cancellation of classes in coastal towns in Region 2 following the warning.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Claveria sub-station temporarily suspended the issuance of sailing permits for any type of vessel in their area following the alert.
