CAVITE – The local government unit (LGU) of Naic directed all public schools within its jurisdiction to shift to blended or modular learning this April due to extreme heat.
Memorandum No. 7 Series of 2024, signed by Mayor Ruperto C. Dualan on Wednesday, April 3, states that the suspension of face-to-face classes in public schools will take effect from April 4 to 30.
However, students in some grade levels are still required to attend face-to-face classes to comply with examination requirements, including:
- Grade 6 National Achievement Test (NAT) takers on April 4
- Grade 3 Early Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (ELLNA) takers from April 4 to 17
- Grade 5 students from Petronilo L. Torres Memorial Elementary School and Kingsway Christian Academe, as required for their Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) examination
Private school heads and administrators have the discretion to proceed with on-site classes or shift to a blended or modular system for the rest of April.
However, private schools that will hold face-to-face classes are directed to allow students to wear light casual clothes instead of school uniforms to ensure comfort amid hot temperatures.
The memo was drafted following the LGU’s consultation with the Local School Board, as well as forecasts from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicating warmer temperatures in the coming weeks.
