The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said seven areas in the country had “dangerous” heat index on Wednesday, April 3.

PAGASA said the areas that recorded high heat indices on Wednesday were Dagupan City, Pangasinan (43°C); Dumangas, Iloilo (43°C); Catarman, Northern Samar (43°C); Sangley Point, Cavite (42°C); Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (42°C); Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (42°C); and Cotabato City, Maguindanao (42°C).
It said that heat indices ranging from 42 to 51°C are considered “dangerous,” which implies that heat stroke is likely if activity is continued, while heat cramps and heat exhaustion are also possible.
Based on PAGASA’s heat index forecast for April 4, seven areas may experience “dangerous” heat indices. These are Catarman, Northern Samar at 43°C, and Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Sangley Point, Cavite; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Dumangas, Iloilo; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) station in Pili, Camarines Sur at heat index of 42°C.
On April 5, PAGASA forecasted a dangerous heat index of 42°C in eight areas including Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Dagupan City, Pangasinan; CBSUA station in Pili, Camarines Sur; Catarman, Northern Samar; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Dumangas, Iloilo; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; and Cotabato City; Maguindanao.
