DAGUPAN CITY – The Provincial Health Office has recorded three cases of pertussis or whooping cough in one city and two towns in Pangasinan.
These cases were in the towns of Santo Tomas and San Nicolas and Urdaneta City.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cielo Almoite reminded the people to be aware of whooping cough symptoms.

(Symptoms of whooping cough lasts for two weeks and these include violent and rapid coughing and vomiting)
She advised people to seek immediate treatment if they exhibit these symptoms.
Children, particularly those who are malnourished, are prone to pertussis due to their low immune systems.
Almoite said vaccination is very important to protect children below one-year-old from pertussis.
She said that the three patients have recovered and nobody was infected in their community.
