DILG Secretary Abalos leads citywide clean-up drive in Las Piñas

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos led the clean-up drive in Las Piñas City last Saturday, April 27.

Abalos was joined by Las Piñas City Vice-Mator April Aguilar and city officials in the “Kalinga at Inisyatiba Para sa Malinis na Bayan” clean-up drive that aimed at enhancing environmental health and safety through community efforts.

Aguilar said the activity encouraged all segments of society to take part in environmental preservation through the traditional Filipino value of “bayanihan”.

She said it will also develop public awareness about environmental care and motivate local government units to invest in solid waste management and sustainable ecological practices.

Aguilar said aside from community cleaning efforts such as trash collection and beautification of public spaces, a planting activity was also conducted at the city urban garden.
