43 hurt as overloaded jeepney plunges into canal in Cagayan

ENRILE, Cagayan â€“ Forty-three persons were injured when a passenger jeepney plunged into a five-foot deep drainage canal in Barangay Roma Norte here on Sunday afternoon, April 28.

RESCUERS bring an accident victim in Enrile, Cagayan to a hospital.

Police said the victims were on their way home from a wedding in Ilagan City, Isabela when the accident happened.

Mayor Miguel B. Decena Jr. here said the victims were on their way home to Barangay Maddarulug Sur when the accident happened near his residence.

Police theorized that the cause of the accident was overloading and brake loss.

The victims were taken to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Decena appealed to Sen. Bong Go for medical assistance from his Malasakit Center.
