The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Makati are set to build a Halal Hub in Makati City to promote the local halal industry and deliver halal products and services to the wider public.
The partnership was sealed through a signing ceremony during the PCCI’s Second General Membership Meeting on April 26, graced by DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) sets the Makati Halal Hub in motion as a "central point for innovation and business in the Halal sector, spanning a variety of industries including food production, financial services, and more," said the agency in a statement on April 27.
Through the MOU, the DTI and PCCI-Makati will engage with other government agencies, groups, and private stakeholders to develop programs to establish the hub.
It is also expected to help halal businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium enteprises (MSMEs), to reach a wider consumer base and reach the global halal market.
"Together, we will foster a legacy of growth, resilience, and innovation, ensuring that our nation remains a competitive force in the global market," said Pascual.
