Boy, 7, shoots jealous cop dad dead in Sagay City


BACOLOD CITY – A 44-year-old policeman was shot dead by his seven-year-old son in their house in Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, April 27.

The victim was identified as Police Staff Sgt. Lernie Alacha assigned to Sagay City Police Station.

Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said Alacha was arguing with his live-in partner inside their bedroom due to jealousy.

Catalogo said tension between the couple intensified when the victim learned that some of her followers on TikTok had been engaging with her.

The victim’s son, triggered by the heated argument between his parents, took his father’s service firearm – a Glock 17 9mm caliber stored in a plastic box outside their room – and shot him in the neck.

Alacha was taken to a hospital where he died.

Catalogo said the victim’s son was placed under the custody of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Sagay City police for further investigation.
