44 areas in the Philippines reach 'dangerous' levels on April 27


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 44 areas in the country experienced “dangerous” heat indices on Saturday, April 27.

PAGASA said a heat index of 48°C was recorded in Aparri, Cagayan, followed by a heat index of 47°C in Virac, Catanduanes. 

Five areas experienced a heat index of 46°C including Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Daet, Camarines Norte; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Iloilo City, Iloilo. 

A heat index of 45°C was also recorded in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City; Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; and Roxas City, Capiz. 

In Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Alabat, Quezon; Aborlan, Palawan, Dumangas, Iloilo, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, a heat index of 44°C was felt. 

A heat index of 43°C was also recorded in Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Casiguran, Aurora; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Legazpi City, Albay; Masbate City, Masbate; La Granja, La Carlota; Negros Occidental; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; and Davao City, Davao del Sur. 

PAGASA Science Garden, Quezon City; Calayan, Cagayan; Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; Iba, Zambales; Clark Airport, Pampanga; Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Baler, Aurora; Tayabas, Quezon; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Juban, Sorsogon; Mambusao, Capiz; CMU Agromet, Musuan, Bukidnon; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte experienced a heat index of 42°C.
