PAGASA: Expect rain showers in some areas of Mindanao; hot, humid weather in the rest of the country next week

Most of the country will experience another week of hot and humid weather, based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) weather outlook for April 27 to May 3.

PAGASA said the country will experience partly cloudy, warm, and humid weather on Saturday, April 27, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms occurring mostly in the afternoon or evening due to the easterlies.

Easterlies are warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.

From April 29 to May 1, Monday to Wednesday, PAGASA said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ)—a weather system formed by the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres—will move slightly northward and bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over some parts of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and the Davao Region.

Meanwhile, the easterlies will still be the dominant weather system over the rest of the country, which may bring partly cloudy weather with the possibility of localized rain showers or thunderstorms.

From May 2 to 3, Thursday to Friday, PAGASA said the ITCZ is expected to retreat southward, resulting in partly cloudy to cloudy weather across the archipelago with the possibility of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
