Grade 7 student drowns in Negros Occidental


BACOLOD CITY – A 12-year-old Grade 7 student drowned in the sea in the reclamation area in Barangay 1 Poblacion, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, April 24.

Police Lt. Darryl Kuhutan, deputy chief of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said the victim and his two friends went swimming after classes.

Kuhutan said that the victim was seen struggling for help and his companions tried to rescue him but they failed due to the strong current. 

His friends asked help from bystanders but the victim was swept away by the sea. The victim’s body was retrieved in the bottom of the sea around before dawn on Thursday, April 25.
