Barangay kagawad arrested for drugs

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A barangay kagawad or councilor from Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay was held by authorities for drug possession during an anti-illegal drug operation last Wednesday, April 24.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office, with the Buug Municipal Police Station and Zamboanga Sibugay 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, implemented the operation in Purok 5, Barangay Bulaan.

They arrested the suspect, Bena Luminza Edris, 38.

Omar Mohammad Edris, alias “Mamang,” 37, a jobless resident of Purok 5, Barangay Bulaan, eluded arrest.

Confiscated during the operation were 15 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P115,600 and drug paraphernalia.

Cases for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II, of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the suspects.
