Petro Gazz seeks momentum as it braces for an unpredictable semifinals next week when it clashes with Nxled on Saturday, April 27, at the end of the eliminations in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Toting an 8-2 win-loss record, the Angels are using their 4 p.m. match against the Chameleons as a springboard to their round-robin semis campaign that will start on Tuesday, April 30.
The match would also determine the final semis standing, which also feature Choco Mucho, Chery Tiggo and Creamline.
A three- or four-set win for Petro Gazz will secure them the top seeding via superior quotient among Choco Mucho and Chery Tiggo, who are currently at first and second with identical 9-2 cards. Creamline will then finish fourth with an 8-3 slate.
A loss for the Angeles, however, would drop them to third or fourth place.
Riding on a four-game winning streak including a crucial win over the Cool Smashers, the Angels are heavily favored in the matchup especially with the presence of Brooke Van Sickle, Jonah Sabete, Remy Palma and Djanel Cheng.
But the Chameleons are expected to end their campaign on a bright note, hoping to improve their 4-6 record with Camille Victoria and Ivy Lacsina at helm.
Also eyeing to exit the conference with a bang are Cignal and Capital1 as they collide at 2 p.m., and Akari and Strong Group, who tangle at 6 p.m.
Carrying a 6-4 card, the HD Spikers aim to cement their No. 6 placing while the Solar Spikers hope to end their misfortune and improve their 1-9 record.
The Athletics, meanwhile, also seek to finally get that elusive win after a nine-game losing skid against the Chargers, who sport a 4-6 mark.
