Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo to star in period drama by ‘Our Blues’ screenwriter


“The Glory” star Song Hye-kyo and “Squid Game” star Gong You will be starring in a period drama by the screenwriter of the series “The Blues.” 

"Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo have confirmed their appearance in writer Noh Hee-kyung's new work. The two plan to work together as the main characters," a representative of the drama told Korean media outlet Dispatch.

Noh Hee-kyung is the screenwriter of the dramas “That Winter, the Wind Blows” that starred Song Hye-kyo and Zo In-sung, “Our Blues,” “It's Okay, That's Love,” and “Padam Padam.”

Another report by Korean media outlet Osen stated that the production cost of the drama is about 80 billion won (about $58 million) and will have about 20 to 24 episodes. 

The drama will be based on the history of the growth of Korean show business  starting from the 8th US Army after the Korean War and will continue until the 1980s. Studio Dragon and Noh Hee-kyung’s agency GTist will co-produce it. 

It will be helmed by director Lee Yoon-jung who directed the hit 2007 drama “Coffee Prince” starring Gong Yoo. 

Song Hye-kyo is currently filming the occult movie “Black Nuns.” 

Gong Yoo will star in the upcoming “Squid Game” season 2.
