Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives announced on Thursday, April 25, the arrest of a man who allegedly stole a vehicle.
Police identified the suspect as Richard, 44, a resident of Ma. Clara St., Sampaloc, Manila.
According to the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU), a woman went to their office on April 6 and reported about a carnapping incident that occurred on Quirino Highway in Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City.
On the following day, the suspect contacted the victim to inform her that he had the missing vehicle.
During investigation, DACU operatives learned that the suspect was the previous live-in partner of the victim.
On April 20, at around 4 p.m., the members of DACU received information regarding the stolen vehicle that was seen along Dapitan St. in Barangay Teresita, Quezon City.
The police immediately went to the given location, but the vehicle was nowhere to be found.
Authorities conducted a thorough search around the area until they found the vehicle parked unattended at the residence of the suspect.
Police said the vehicle was brought to DACU for appropriate handling.
It added that the suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, police said.
