CEBU CITY – A 50-year-old man was arrested after he pretended that he was a doctor and applied as a health officer in Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.

Antonio Jabonillo Alpechi had been hired when he was found out be a licensed teacher, not a licensed physician.
Police investigation showed that Alpechi, a native of Isabela, Basilan, applied online as a rural health physician of Dalaguete in October last year.
Alpechi submitted the needed documents that were required by the town’s human resource officer. The suspect hurdled the interview and was eventually hired. The suspect reported for work last Monday, April 22.
Human resources personnel examined the documents that the suspect submitted and they later discovered that the papers he submitted to prove that he was a licensed physician were all fake.
The human resources personnel coordinated with the Dalaguete police who arrested the suspect while he was on-duty at the town’s Rural Health Unit.
The suspect failed to present an identification card issued by the Professional Regulation Commission showing that he is indeed a doctor.
Police said the suspect will face charges for usurpation of authority.
