Minor drowns in irrigation canal

BANTAY, Ilocos Sur – A minor drowned in an irrigation canal in Barangay Capangdanan here.

THE body of a minor who drowned in an irrigation canal is recovered in Bantay, Ilocos Sur. (MDRRMO Dur-as Bantay FB)

Police Lt. Reynaldo Renon of the Bantay police station said the boy was reported missing on Wednesday.

The victim's mother did not notice her son who is a Person with Disability and epileptic leaving their house.

The body of the boy was seen floating in the irrigation canal on Thursday morning, April 25.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and police recovered the victim’s body.

Police theorized that the victim went swimming and drowned after he was taken away by the strong current in the irrigation canal.
