House Deputy Speaker Las Pinas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar led on Thursday, April 25 the distribution of P10 million worth of education assistance to college students from local indigent families.
Receiving P5,000 each were some 2,000 poor but desevimg students of the city.
The cash distribution was part of Villar's public assistance programs, which are intended to help the city’s poor families rise out from poverty. It seeks to encourage students to pursue their education despite economic hardships.
"Education is the great equalizer. Mahalagang makatapos sa pag-aaral ang ating mga kabataan nang makatulong sila sa pag-ahon sa kanilang mga pamilya mula sa kahirapan," she said.

(It's important for our youth to finish their studies and help their respective families get through poverty.)
She underscored that with the benefit of education, families have a better chance of improving their lives and providing a better future for the next generation.
Villar, daughter of former Senate President Manny Villar, is the chief executive officer (CEO) of ALL Value Group and managing director of real estate firm Vista Land.
