Police Lt. Hannah Banquil, deputy chief of the Sagay City Police Station, said the victim confronted her father after he scolded his two grandchildren.

Banquil said the 51-year-old suspect scolded the victim’s two children because they were playing with water in the faucet.

A heated argument erupted between them, after which the victim went home as her father was drunk.

Banquil said the suspect followed the victim and hacked her with a bolo. The victim succumbed to multiple hack wounds. Recovered from the crime scene was a bolo with scabbard.

The suspect surrendered to the police. The suspect told police that it was not his intention to kill his daughter but he got irked and caused him to become violent.

The victim and the suspect had previous misunderstandings and their most recent argument might have aggravated their indifferences with each other, police said.

Parricide charges were filed against the suspect on Thursday, April 25.
