The Philippine Army warned the public, especially those interested in becoming a soldier, to be wary of a fake post of the supposed ongoing recruitment in the military—with no age limit and features acceptance of K-12 graduates.
In a statement, the Philippine Army said the information posted on the Facebook page Filipino Gazette is fake.
“Another Facebook post bearing an unverified application link and claims that there is no age limit in the Philippine Army application has been circulating online,” the statement read.
“The Philippine Army reminds the public that official recruitment announcements and online application forms will be found on the Join the Army's official website at https://jointhearmy.ph/,” it added.
In the Facebook post, it said the Philippine Army is accepting at least 72 units in college or a Senior High School graduate, and that there is no age limit for the applicants.
Based on the legitimate requirements, applicants for officers in the Philippine Army must be a college graduate and at least 21 years old but not a day older than 26 years old during the oath-taking ceremony.
For non-officer or enlisted personnel applicants (those entering with a rank of Private), they must be at least 18 years old to 26 years old with a minimum requiement of being a Senior High School graduate, or at least 72 units in college.
“We also remind everyone that the Philippine Army does not accept payment of any kind from its applicants and aspiring soldiers,” the statement read.
The Philippine Army then encourated netizens to report similar Facebook pages posting the fake recruitment.
