The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said one to two tropical cyclones may enter or form within the country’s area of responsibility next month.

The climatological tracks for May were presented during PAGASA's climate forum on Wednesday, April 24.
These tracks included tropical cyclones that may form in the Western Pacific and enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but they may recurve before making landfall, as well as tropical cyclones that may form in the Western Pacific and enter the PAR, make landfall in the Central Philippines, and then recurve before leaving the PAR.
PAGASA said no tropical cyclone has formed within the country's area of responsibility since the beginning of 2024.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said there is also a low chance for a tropical cyclone to enter or form in PAR until the end of April and first week of May.
“Forecasts indicate a low likelihood of TC-like vortex (TCLV) development near or within the PAR for April 24 to April 30,” PAGASA said.
“Model forecasts suggest the likelihood of TCLV development near or within the PAR remains low from May 1 to May 7,” it added.
