Through a video message, Marcos announced his disapproval of the proposed imposition of higher illegal parking fines from P1,000 to P4,000 on Wednesday, April 24.

"Para patuloy ang magandang serbisyo ng ating pamahalaan ay hindi ko pinayagan ang Joint Traffic Circular No. 01 ng Metro Manila Council tungkol sa probisyon na tataasan ang multa para sa mga illegal parking mula sa isang libong piso na hanggang apat na libong piso (In order to maintain the government's good service, I did not approve the Joint Traffic Circular No. 01 of the Metro Manila Council on the provision to increase the fine on illegal parking from P1,000 to P4,000)," Marcos said.

"Maiiwan na sa isang libong piso lamang (It will remain at P1,000)," he added.

The President stressed that he would encourage discipline over imposing higher fines, adding that he believes Filipinos are capable of being disciplined motorists.

"While I understand the intention behind the proposal, I’ve decided to prioritize discipline over penalties," he said.

"Ang Bagong Pilipino ay disiplinado (The new Philippines is disciplined). By focusing on individual responsibility we can create long lasting solutions to our traffic challenge," he added.
