DOH rejoices over 3-year-old child's successful liver transplant
The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, April 24, celebrated another milestone in pediatric healthcare with the successful liver transplant of a three-year-old child named Baby Gianna.

DOH said the child was diagnosed with biliary atresia and underwent surgery on Feb. 22.
Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa highlighted the collaborative effort behind Gianna's successful transplant, saying, “it marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing accessible healthcare for children in need.”
The Pediatric Access to Liver Transplant (PAsLiT) program, a joint effort by the DOH, Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC), and The Medical City (TMC), was said to have enabled the successful procedure.
DOH said the program's goal is to guarantee the health and quality of life of pediatric patients in need by offering them essential liver transplant services.
The partnership was solidified with a memorandum of agreement signed on Feb. 26, 2020.
