Caloocan City government hosted the National Capital Region (NCR) Palaro on Sunday, April 21, at the Caloocan City Sports Complex.
Hundreds of student-athletes, coaches, and parents from diffrerent cities in NCR attended the opening ceremony.

“We wanted to make this happen so we could welcome you to the historic City of Caloocan. Makalipas ang dalawang dekada, nais din naming ipagmalaki ang maraming pagbabago sa Caloocan kasabay ng pagpapakita namin ng suporta sa mga manlalaro sa buong Metro Manila (We wanted to make this happen so we could welcome you to the historic City of Caloocan. Two decades later, we also want to celebrate the many changes in Caloocan as we show our support to players all over Metro Manila),” Mayor Along Malapitan said.

“Sa pagkikipagtagisan niyo ng galing at talento sa isa’t-isa, sana'y palaging manaig ang tunay na diwa ng mga ganitong proyekto. Sportsmanship, team work, humility and respect towards your opponent are the true essence of sports event like this (As you compete with each other's talents and skills, I hope that the true spirit of these projects will always prevail. The NCR Palaro is a culmination of different sporting events conducted by school districts and divisions and it is also the qualifying event for the Palarong Pambansa.
Mayor Malapitan has vowed to continue conducting sports development programs in the city.
“Mas pauunlarin pa natin ang mga programa ng lungsod para sa ating mga atleta, lalong-lalo na upang simulang mahasa ang kanilang mga talento habang bata pa. Asahan niyo rin po na nakatutok ang pamahalaang lungsod sa pagsuporta sa mga talento ng mga Batang Kankaloo sa sports, edukasyon, at maging sa kanilang paghahanap ng trabaho upang mas mapaganda ang kanilang kinabukasan (We will further develop the city's programs for our athletes, especially to hone their talents while they are still young. You can also expect that the city government is focused on supporting the talents of Batang Kankaloo in sports, education, and even in their job search to make their future better),” he said.
