The Pasay City government announced that heat index in the city climbed to 46 degrees Celsius on April 24, which is considered a dangerous level, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city’s Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) recorded a hit index of 46 degrees Celsius at around 2:01 p.m., which is very dangerous as it may cause heat stroke and other heat-related illness.
She said advised the teams from the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) and the City Health Office (CHO) to be on alert in order to respond immediately to emergency cases brought by the dangerous heat.
The mayor said residents who may need immediate help can call PCGH Emergency Room at 8551-0121 and CHO at 8551-2026.
Rubiano also advised residents to avoid going out of their house unless they have important matter to attend to.
She said the city government shared tips to avoid heat-related illness on the Facebook page of Public Information Office (PIO).
