2 grass fires sparked by extreme heat recorded in Cagayan


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Two grass fires ignited by extreme heat were recorded in this province and Isabela on Tuesday, April 23.

A GRASS fire was recorded near the Cagayan State University in Aparri, Cagayan on April 23. 

The grass fire in Cagayan was recorded near the Cagayan State University in Aparri on Tuesday night.

The second was recorded in the 600-hectare national greening program area in Barangay Carmencita, Delfin Albano, Isabela.

Police said this was the biggest fire so far ever recorded in Delfin Albano.

Allacapan, Cagayan Mayor Harry Florida suspended classes on all levels in the municipality on Wednesday, April 24, due to extreme heat.

The State weather bureau recorded a dangerous 48ºC heat index in Aparri on Tuesday. Thirty other parts of the country also experienced a dangerous heat index on that day.

PAGASA advised people to drink more water during a dangerous heat index.
