Man killed in Kabankalan City blast

BACOLOD CITY â€“ A 58-year-old man was killed and his son was injured in an explosion in Purok Lomboy, Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Monday night, April 22.

Police identified the fatality as Remy Libo-on.

Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., Kabankalan police chief, said Remy and his son, Arnel, 34, were about to pack charcoal when the explosion occurred at around 7 p.m.

Remy and Arnel suffered injuries and were taken to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City. Arnel is recovering.

Remy died in the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, April 23.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the explosion.
