Easterlies may bring rain showers to parts of the Philippines


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 23 said parts of the country may experience rain showers due to the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, also known as easterlies.

PAGASA said South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur in these areas during moderate to heavy rains. 

In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be felt due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms. 

It also warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms. 

Meanwhile, in PAGASA’s 4 a.m. public broadcast, weather specialist Rhea Torres said hot and humid weather will still be felt in parts of the country particularly in most of Luzon. 

Based on the PAGASA’s extended weather outlook from April 24 to 26, air temperatures in some key areas will be 25–36°C in Metro Manila, 24-38°C in Tuguegarao City, 26-33°C in Legazpi City, 17–27°C in Baguio City, 26–32°C in Metro Cebu, 27–33°C in Iloilo City, 25–33°C in Tacloban City, 25–33°C in Metro Davao, 24–34°C in Zamboanga City, and 25–33°C in Cagayan de Oro City.
