25 areas may experience ‘dangerous’ heat index on April 23


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) advised the public to stay hydrated, as “dangerous” heat index levels may be felt in 25 areas on Tuesday, April 23.

PAGASA said a dangerous heat index of 45°C may be felt in Roxas City, Capiz and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur. 

A heat index of 44°C may also be experienced in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Aborlan, Palawan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Virac, Catanduanes, and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) station in Pili, Camarines Sur. 

Meanwhile, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) station in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Sangley Point, Cavite; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte may have a heat index of 43°C. 

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Aparri, Cagayan, Clark Airport, Pampanga; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Infanta, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; Daet, Camarines Norte; Masbate City, Masbate; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Davao City, Davao del Sur may have a heat index of 42°C. 

Based on PAGASA’s daily heat index report, the highest heat index so far since 2024 began was recorded in Roxas City, Capiz at 48°C.
