Pasig City gov’t celebrates World Earth Day


The city government of Pasig held different activities to celebrate the Earth Day on Monday, April 22. 

With the theme “Planet Vs. Plastics”, the local government kicked off the celebration with a flag ceremony and the launch of the “Batang Bantay Kalikasan” (BBK) Project.

The BBK officers from 21 public schools in Pasig City, led by  Samantha Nicole Salingay of De Castro Elementary School, took their oath of office. They were also given BBK badges as a symbol of their recognition by the local government.

They also opened the Earth Day Fair at the Pasig City hall, which features environment-friendly products. 

The Earth Day Fair is open from April 22 to 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Meanwhile, a tree planting/growing activity was held at the Pasig Central Elementary School for around 70 different types of trees such as guyabano, rambutan, lemon, guava, cacao, cashew, atis, pili, stesa, lime, and lipote.

Present at the activity were Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dodot Jawoski Jr., councilors, and representatives from Mint College of Ortigas, South AsiaLink Finance Corporation, and Department of Education - Schools Division Office of Pasig .
