8-year-old boy dies in Bulacan fire

An eight-year-old boy perished in a fire that burned more than six houses in a residential compound in Purok 5, Barangay Look 1st, City of Malolos on Saturday, April 20.

A report reaching retired Col. Manuel M. Lukban Jr., chief of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), stated that the fire started at 11:00 p.m.

Police identified the fatality as Harris Buesa, 8, who was reportedly trapped inside his house during the fire. No other casualty was reported.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire spread quickly because the houses in the area were made of light materials.

The blaze was put out by firefighters from Dapat Bayan Volunteers, PDRRMO Bulacan Rescue Team, Malolos City BFP, Bayanihan, and Moto Rescue.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire and the cost of property damage.
